after metropolitan jazz affair, the dynamics and mr president, master of musical ubiquity bruno ?patchworks? hovart proudly presents uptown funk empire, a burning tribute to one of his all time greatest loves: funk. bruno ?patchworks? hovart, as a self-taught musician and typical teenager, started playling guitar, bass and keyboards at age 15, covering james brown, jimi hendrix and cream in his bedroom and, later in college bands. his first releases are in the mid 90s, with deep house and disco live bands and various electronic projects. he quickly develops and shows very special skills for vintage disco/funk productions with a contemporary flavor. this gifted boy?s been working with artists such as amp fiddler, archie shepp, mr day, paul randolph... and for many recording labels such as i still music (usa), favorite recordings (france), infracom (germany), further out (uk)... uptown funk empire is an exciting and ambitious project, worthy of its name. while the first album is simply called ?the empire strikes back?, it?s no joke... forget the whole revival thing, this sounds like an actual rebirth of the real funky stuff. it?s like being back to the better days of funk without a travel machine... the vibe is vintage but the sound is fresh...that?s not funky music, that?s funky music !

reissue des legendären debütalbums von luke slaters wohl bekanntestem alias, planetary assault systems. nach mehreren ep s in der -planetary funk--serie zwischen 1993-1996 erschien 1997 schließlich der longplayer -the electric funk machine-, der unterschiedliche techno-styles aus detroit und europa - von peaktime-banger über düster-monotone grooves bis überschwenglich-soulful-verträumte detroit-trips - kombinierte und auf anhieb zu einem zeitlosen meilenstein des techno avancierte.

the german boogie compilation “boogie on the mainline” presents a selection of 10 rare disco tracks from germany plus one more tune from austria, all of them, originally released between 1980 and 1987. check! . the fully licenced album contains little known tunes by groups like imagination (which you can also see on the cover of the lp), squish, upstairs, the poptown syndicate and more. as the boogie-ish post-disco side of german music history still basically remains undiscovered as of yet, “boogie on the mainline” hopefully will shed some light again on 11 rare gems that were mainly published on small or private labels. the album is released on loudly pressed double vinyl with gatefold jacket on the new artless cuckoo sister label boogie on the mainline records. it includes extensive liner notes by compiler john raincoatman aka dj scientist.

deep driving & pounding dubbed techno where e-gzr’s chorded patterns are all segued with its simple palette of wavering eq’d beats & sonics. each separate track is like a dub of the previous one and the basic skeleton allows some kicks to hide while others punch the sound system to a 3d outlet box. or in short: solidly banging 4 tracker by e-gzr. loud & heavy cut, beware of needle weight!

metalurgic funk vol. 2 takes a short leap from vol. 1, with all 4 cuts based around solid tonks of straight forward techno. cutting 909-hat s, tunnel-visioning and simple but detailed slings of futuristic synths thread the whole record together. pretention is left aside for upfrontness and most advanced interpretation of these looped bangers are left to happen in the listeners head while segueing into the core of techno.
